Syncron product portfolio enables reduction of carbon footprint

The Syncron product portfolio supports several ways to enable a reduction of the carbon footprint of any aftermarket supply chain. The services provided by the system that support this are:

Optimizing stock level/service level

By accurately forecasting the demand for aftermarket sales, Syncron can help dealers increase service level while decreasing stock value. A reduced inventory creates a smaller transportation need, since articles that are unlikely to be sold will not be transported at all. Buyback and scrap transports decrease as well. The increased service level that comes with an Supply Chain Planner installation also greatly reduces the need for emergency/rush orders. Each dealer gets a separate analysis for what parts should be kept on shelf and the refill frequency needed to maintain the desired service level.

Support for local sourcing

Using information about trading partners and products, the routing of the material flow can be optimized regarding transportation distance. When locally produced or stocked items can be delivered to customers directly, a huge reduction of emissions can be made. Using product, it is possible to find alternative articles or suppliers that are located closer than the default relation. This decreases the lead time and reduces transportation distance. To what extent, and under which conditions local sourcing should be allowed can be controlled by the customer.

Support for direct ship

Spare part transports from local supplier to dealer without revenue loss for the central organization is a win/win/win situation. The central warehouse can maintain a higher margin because of smaller transport/handling costs. The dealer can reduce lead time and maintain a higher service level towards to the end customers and the local supplier can increase business. The decrease in transportation distance reduces fuel consumption.

Stock visibility/Virtual planning and redistribution

By making information accessible about what articles are available at all locations, a lot of opportunities for making supply chains more efficient present themselves. Aggregating demand over an entire region can make it reasonable to stock items that do not have enough demand on any one specific location to be classified as stocking. This is called virtual planning in Syncron Supply Chain Planner. The transport needed to supply these articles will be restricted to the region, which enables better planning for articles that are rarely sold.  Better planning enables better possibilities for choosing transport method. In the same manner, by using the Supply Chain Planner functionality redistribution, slow moving articles can be found at locations close by and supplied without delay or extraregional transports.

Product specific transportation planning

Extensive product data is crucial for delivery planning. The Global Item Master solution can provide a view of any company’s product range and supplies the user with exact data for all products. This gives the logistic planners the chance to put together effective transports, with parameters as size, weight, packing etc in mind. The extensive product data is also making it possible to replace outdated items with new ones that is already locally sourced, which reduces the need for long deliveries from other sources.

Synchronizing transports

A correct and exact customer and supplier database gives every user organization better visibility of their business partners, and possibilities for effective sourcing and planning of activities between them. By using the information available in the Supply Chain Planner and/or the Global Customer Master it is possible to synchronize the transportation process to avoid inefficiencies. For instance, we can choose to eliminate LTL-transports entirely by using part and relation information in the Supply Chain Planner to make sure that shipping volume meets minimum requirements.
